Quiet in Community — Terms & Conditions for Gatherings

Last updated: 9/1/2026

Thank you for being part of Quiet in Community. These terms apply to anyone participating in a QIC gathering, whether on Zoom or in person. By registering for or attending a gathering, you agree to the terms below.

1. The nature of our gatherings

QIC gatherings are low-pressure spaces for quiet connection. We do not require participants to speak, introduce themselves, use cameras, or take part in structured activities beyond their comfort level. You may observe, participate partially, or step away at any point without explanation.

2. Assumption of risk

Participation in any gathering — walks, shared meals, co-working sessions, or other in-person activities — carries some inherent risk, including but not limited to physical injury, illness (including communicable illness), property loss or damage, and emotional discomfort that can arise from being in community with others. By attending, you voluntarily assume these risks for yourself.

If you have a medical condition, mobility limitation, or other consideration that gathering activities should account for, please let the organizer know in advance so reasonable accommodations can be discussed.

3. Release of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release Quiet in Community, its organizer(s), and any venue or host from claims, liability, or expenses of any kind arising from your participation in a gathering — except in cases of gross negligence or intentional misconduct on the part of the organizer, which this release does not cover.

4. Online gatherings

For Zoom-based gatherings, you are responsible for your own equipment, internet connection, and environment. QIC is not responsible for technical issues, interruptions, or privacy within your own space (e.g., others present in your household or background).

5. Community agreements and conduct

All participants agree to:

  • Treat others with respect and without judgment

  • Avoid recording, screenshotting, or photographing any gathering (online or in person) without the explicit consent of everyone present

  • Refrain from soliciting, selling, proselytizing, or fundraising during gatherings

  • Respect others' choice not to speak, remove themselves, or decline participation at any point

QIC reserves the right to remove any participant from a gathering, or from future gatherings, whose conduct is disruptive, disrespectful, or unsafe for the group.

6. Confidentiality

What's shared in a gathering stays in the gathering. Participants agree not to share identifying details about others' personal disclosures outside the group without permission.

7. Media

Occasionally, QIC may wish to photograph or record a gathering for promotional purposes. This will always be announced in advance, and anyone who prefers not to be included may opt out without needing to explain why.

8. Minors

QIC gatherings are intended for adults (18+) unless a specific gathering is explicitly designated otherwise.

9. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued participation in gatherings after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Accessibility

We want Quiet in Community to be reachable for as many people as possible. If you have a mobility, sensory, hearing, vision, or processing need — or anything else that would help you participate more comfortably — email us before a gathering and we'll do what we can to accommodate it.

For Zoom gatherings, live captions are available by request, just email us ahead of time and we'll have them turned on for you.

In-person venues vary, so if accessibility is a concern for a specific location, reach out and we'll share the details in advance.
